BEMO Tunnelling UK was awarded the £230m “Grain to Tilbury” infrastructure upgrade project
Through its subsidiary BeMo Tunnelling UK Ltd, BEMO Tunnelling will deliver the 2.2 km long high voltage (400kv) cable tunnel for our new client, National Grid. The design & build contract which was awarded in December 2024 will commence in early 2025 and is planned to complete in the first quarter of 2029. The Project is part of National Grids Great Grid Upgrade, the largest overhaul of the UK´s electricity network in generations. The job will be delivered in an integrated joint venture between Ferrovial Construction and BEMO Tunnelling. The expertise and knowledge of both companies will ensure a successful delivery of the works. The joint venture will employ advanced engineering techniques and state-of-the-art technology to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency. One of the highlights of the project will be the use of a Vertical Shaft Sinking Machine to excavate the two shafts. This technology is unique and will minimize environmental impact and ensure the highest level of safety throughout operation.
The Grain to Tilbury project is expected to create job opportunities and contribute to the local economy, further solidifying BEMO Tunnelling’s project delivery portfolio in the UK market.
We would like to wish the project team, and everybody involved in the project all the best and a safe and successful delivery
