Geology

Below typical inner-urban layers (up to 2.6 m thick) there are sandy and in parts gravelly soils. From a depth of approx. 7 m below ground surface follows sandy till, which is penetrated by small and large areas of Sand- und gravel, followed by densely layered sand in deep underground.
Ground water level approx. between 3.5 and 3.7 m below ground

Technical Data

Construction of a watertight building pit in construction unit BT7 of the project “KKB” - Ku’Damm Karree Berlin.
• diaphragm walls
2,800 m² d = 60 cm depth approx. 14.5 m
• low-lying sealing beds (HCI-sealing beds)
3,200 m² d =1,0 m
• jet grouting for underpinning and sealing > 1,000 m³
• soldier pile wall 320 rm
• disposal of suspensions 5,000 m³
• strand anchors and steel construction (reinforcement)

Furthermore the work includes:
• drainage
• examination for explosive ordnance
• surveying

Difficulties arise from:
• Inner-city location
• late presence of neighbour law agreements and therefore a very flexible planning
• Earthworks and demolition work (approx. 26,000 m³) were directly signed by the client, that is why additional interfaces and increased coordination effort were required.
